- Always observe the 4 rules of safe gun handling:
- ALWAYS treat all guns as if they are loaded.
- Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
- Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target.
- Always be sure of your target and what is behind it.
- Only members and supervised guests may use the range. It is the member’s responsibility to ensure that their guests adhere to the range rules.
- Membership cards must be visible or shown to any member who requests to see them.
- Shooting hours as listed below, Monday thru Sunday, unless otherwise posted. Occasionally individual bays, sections of the range, or even the entire range may be closed for either maintenance or match use, check the calendar.
- Berwick Range: 8 am to Sunset
- Sanford Range: 7 am to Sunset
- All shooters and observers must wear proper eye and ear protection at all times.
- No alcoholic beverages or drugs are permitted on the premises.
- No glass, plastic, or trash may be used as targets. If the target you use makes a mess, clean up after yourself.
- Clean up your trash. This includes brass, targets, ammo boxes, and any other discarded items. Use the provided trash cans or take it home with you.
- Patterning or testing of shotguns using birdshot is not permitted on any of the permanently installed target boards. It causes too much damage to the target boards/support structure. Either bring your own target stands or use the individual stands at the range, be sure to pick up your mess.
- Always point the muzzle of your firearm in a safe direction.
- Do not handle firearms while anyone is downrange.
- Do not go forward of the firing line until each shooter ensures that their firearm is unloaded and safe.
- Willful destruction of club property or failure to observe these rules may result in loss of range privileges and/of eviction from the club.
- Explosive devices (tannerite, etc) are not permitted at the Berwick Range.
